Top-10 in King of America XV prelim at Lucas Oil Speedway

The United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) season got underway for Gary Christian this past weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway with the King of America XV.

With more than 65 of the nation’s top modified drivers in attendance for three nights of racing, Christian made the field for Thursday’s opener but retired early on lap 23.

He bounced back on Friday, advancing into the $3,000-to-win preliminary feature after improving two spots in his heat race to finish fifth. In the main event, he gained three positions to secure a ninth-place finish.

Christian wrapped up the King of America XV weekend with a 15th-place result in the $15,000-to-win finale.
