Gary Christian continues season in Wisconsin and Iowa
Two tracks in two states were on the docket for Gary Christian and his Hochatown Saloon No. 58x Modified team over the weekend. In a trio of races, the Broken Bow, Oklahoma, driver turned in a best finish of sixth.
First, Christian traveled to the 1/3-mile Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin, for the Dairyland Showdown and the first-ever USRA Northern Lights Modified Series races.
Following Thursday’s rainout, Christian competed in a 35-car USRA Modified field on Friday. He grabbed second in his heat race, putting him fifth to begin the $2,000-to-win feature. He ran into trouble early in the 30-lapper and posted a 22nd-place result.
The next night, Christian was among 32 Modified competitors at Mississippi Thunder Speedway for the event finale. He raced to third in his heat and started 10th in the 35-lap, $3,000 to A-Main. He slid one spot and came home 11th.
Christian then traveled southwest to Mason City, Iowa, for Sunday's USRA Modified program at Mason City Motor Speedway. He began his portion of the “May the Fourth Be With You” event by taking third in his heat race on the 1/3-mile oval. He rolled off fifth in the 20-lap feature and finished sixth in the 15-car field.
