Christian finishes 11th in USMTS Spring Classic finale
Gary Christian followed the Summit USMTS schedule to Webster City, Iowa, over the weekend for a pair of $5,000-to-win shows as part of the 15th annual Spring Classic at Hamilton County Speedway. He made both main events and just missed a top-10 result on Saturday.
On Friday, Christian got behind early in the 26-car field when he was unable to start his heat race. However, he turned in an impressive B-Main on the half-mile oval as he rocketed from 12th to second in his Hochatown Saloon No. 58x Modified to transfer into the night’s feature. He started 16th in the 35-lapper and came 20th after suffering a DNF.
The next night, Christian was among 28 Modified entries and started strong, turning in the second-quickest time in qualifying. He finished fourth in his heat and rolled off 10th to begin the 40-lap main event. He fell back one position and finished in the 11th spot.
After the Spring Classic, Christian sits 10th in the USMTS National Championship point standings.
